Terpene pronunciation

Say it slowly: LIN-uh-lool. Linalool.

Research note ·

Linalool is a terpene associated with floral and lavender-like aromas. Say it in three parts: LIN-uh-lool. An aroma description is useful, but it is not a promise about a person’s experience.

Where the evidence stands

Experiments on terpene interactions can examine cells and receptors without testing a finished product in people. Those findings do not establish that a linalool-rich product treats anxiety or improves sleep. Read the study conditions before turning a laboratory result into a benefit claim.

When comparing products, describe the aroma, check the label and separate a research question from a guarantee.
